Google to settle Buzz privacy case for $9m
GOOGLE has agreed to pay $US8.5 million dollars ($9.2 million) to settle a privacy lawsuit over its Buzz social networking feature, according to court documents.
Legal paperwork made available online detailed the proposed settlement, which awaits approval by the federal court judge in San Francisco presiding over the case.
Lawyers that filed the class-action suit staked out 30 per cent of the settlement money and the seven named plaintiffs were to get no more than $US2500 dollars each, according to court documents.
The rest of the money, which Google is to deposit in a fund, was earmarked for organisations devoted to internet privacy policy or education.

Dell offered $1.3 billion for 3Par, HP offered even more

Dell, one of the world’s top computer makers, was criticized last week for offering a too big amount for data storage services provider 3Par. The amount offered by Dell last week was $1.3 billion. For everyone’s surprise, HP has offered even more today, raising the bid to $1.6 billion.
HP’s offer was of $24 per share of 3Par, a 33.3% premium over Dell’s proposal. This offer shifted 3Par’s shares up to $25 per share and those of HP to shift down to $39.51 per share.
